Did anyone else get scammed by Westgate Resorts timeshares?

Can you answer Jacqueline L’s question about Timeshares?:

I recently bought a timeshare at Westgate Resorts and I feel as though I was completely scammed. I was most interested in the “deal” because I was told we would get 12 Getaways a year anywhere in the US for $139 a week. However this is NOT the case. The getaways cost more like $600 a week and you cannot get anytime - it’s more like times that you would NEVER want! What a rip off. I am currently seeking legal counsel on this matter.

Timeshares Feedback: No, most of us don’t get scammed, If you didn’t call them and make arrangements, then don’t expect to get them from somebody you have never heard off. By the way, I’ve got some ocean front property in Tennesse, are you interested in purchasing it, sight unseen? Send check……

Timeshares Feedback: My parents tried to do time share but they realized it was a scam for they kept pressuring them to buy timeshares. And my Uncle bought the time share but there are so many regulations, and restrictions. but what my parents and i do is find a browse the site for vacation packages.

Timeshares Feedback: This is not new in the timeshare industry. The sales person is allowed to misrepresent the facts and lead you right to a scam. There are a lot of owners in the same situation as you are. Good luck!

Westgate Resorts, timeshare endorsements or claim of endorsements by USA TODAY, Fortune, Orlando Sentinel, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and others listed by them in the member enrollment BOOK, are misleading. For example the Fortune article, part that is highlighted and magnified “…four could save $40,000 over 25 years” the actual article by FAYE RICE dated June 12, 1995 says “…four could save $30,000 over 25 years”. The embellishment from $30,000 to $40,000 is not the only lie. Research the others in their statements. either don’t ex hist or misleading. Our one hour session promised to be only 1 hour resulted into 7 hour session. For my self, I depended on the articles given to me and my spouse reflecting respectable NEWS sources as being accurate. When those articles are modified or don’t exhist this is intend to defraud. I am seeking legal representation and with the possibility of filing suit for fraud. Also all the information is being forwarded to the Florida AG. The question is? are the acts of Westgate resorts civil or criminal or both. If you were given their documents reflecting “TIMESHARE ENDORSEMENTS” reflecting the supposed positive statements by major News organizations, please see if you have legal recourse on canceling contract and getting a refund. If this is not fraud then what is!!
