Westgate Resorts, timeshare endorsements or claim of endorsements by USA TODAY, Fortune, Orlando Sentinel, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and others listed by them in the member enrollment BOOK, are misleading. For example the Fortune article, part that is highlighted and magnified "...four could save $40,000 over 25 years" the actual article by FAYE RICE dated June 12, 1995 says "...four could save $30,000 over 25 years". The embellishment from $30,000 to $40,000 is not the only lie. Research the others in their statements. either don't ex hist or misleading. Our one hour session promised to be only 1 hour resulted into 7 hour session. For my self, I depended on the articles given to me and my spouse reflecting respectable NEWS sources as being accurate. When those articles are modified or don't exhist this is intend to defraud. I am seeking legal representation and with the possibility of filing suit for fraud. Also all the information is being forwarded to the Florida AG. The question is? are the acts of Westgate resorts civil or criminal or both. If you were given their documents reflecting "TIMESHARE ENDORSEMENTS" reflecting the supposed positive statements by major News organizations, please see if you have legal recourse on canceling contract and getting a refund. If this is not fraud then what is!!

I'd just like to offer a suggestion to anyone who is starting to think about timeshares. We've learned so much by going to redweek com. They are a great company that really takes the time to try to help you understand timeshares. Their site has a great Resource section that will answer many of your questions. We've started renting timeshares through redweek.com, and have been having fantastic experiences. We've decided that renting is the way to go for us, but you may prefer to buy - either way, timeshares are the Best way to vacation, we think!!

Timeshares Feedback: This system makes vacation home ownership possible for many people who cannot afford a second home or who otherwise would not be able to enjoy such resort facilities. It is important to remember that purchasing timeshare should NEVER be viewed as a FINANCIAL INVESTMENT with the expectation of gaining a profit in either reselling it or renting it to someone else. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays, in family time together, and when viewed that way it can be a good investment indeed.

INVESTMENT AND RESALE

Many promoters paint glowing pictures of the investment potential and ease of resale of the units in their development. Responsible people in the industry, however, DO NOT promote or sell time-sharing as an investment because time-share units are usually difficult to rent or resell. This situation may change in time, but for now, because of the building boom in new time-sharing developments, markets have not been established for renting or reselling time-share units.

Before you buy, you should be able to answer YES to all these questions:

* Are you POSITIVE you want to spend ALL your vacations there?
*Have you visited the facility? Are you satisfied with its quality, with the stability of the management, and with the terms of the contract? Have you checked out this time-share development with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Office or your Legal Assistance Office?

*Have you talked to some long-time owners in this time-share facility?

*Can you afford both the facility and the round trip travel costs each year?

Timeshares Feedback: The price is the same year round. The usage of the high season of the area is usually more expensive.

Timeshares Feedback: The idiots above me say it is a ripoff and a scam. NO. Most are not. The ones who get scammed are those who buy from a unreputable companies like Joe's swamp resort...lol. When buying a timeshare it is important to consider what you are getting and for what price. Are you buying a timeshare with one property (horrible idea) or buying one with multiple options (very good idea). Buying new you will pay a higher price and receive many extras. If you buy used you may save a great deal of money but buyer beware that some resorts have strict selling policies which may not afford the owner to sell until they are paid up. You must hire an attorney for that.
I have my timeshare through Hilton and I use it (another problem most people have). they never use it. I am thrilled with mine. I was not pressured to buy it. I negotiated for everything I wanted, price location, season, bonus points, etc. Pick the one that's right for you.
Happy travels!
